Drilling Contractors
Rig tanks, cuttings boxes and supply boats, cleaned by one contractor.
PMI cleans what a drilling program leaves dirty: the liquid mud system on the rig, the cuttings boxes and CCUs that carry drill cuttings to shore, the frac and mud tanks on location, and the mud tanks on the supply vessels that serve the rig.

The problems this ends
Every day the rig waits on a clean mud system is day rate paid for nothing.
Demob cannot finish until tanks are clean, and the next location is already waiting.
Dirty cuttings boxes and CCUs piling up at the shore base still on rent can be costly.
Crews sent into mud tanks and cuttings boxes to dig out solids by hand.
Containerization and disposal costs, and the liability on every load that leaves the rig.
One contractor for rig cleaning, another for CCU and equipment cleaning and a third for vessel cleaning. One contractor. All in. PMI.

Services for Drilling Contractors
We do it safely, conventionally or with automated equipment, to cut downtime, speed up rig demobilization and put fewer people in confined spaces. We work offshore in the Gulf of America, along the coastal and onshore Gulf Coast, and in the Mid-Continent. At Port Fourchon we run four OSV cleaning stations and tank storage for drilling fluids.
On the job
Recent work
In two pilot studies near Midland, Texas, our MudHog automated tank cleaner washed 4 feet of bottom solids out of a 750-barrel gunbarrel tank in 40 minutes, and removed 10.5 of 11 feet of sediment from a 1,000-barrel tank in 4 hours. Both tanks were cleaned from the thief hatch, with no one entering the tank.
Why PMI
What changes when PMI runs the job
Two things decide how a cleaning job actually goes: whether anyone has to go inside, and what happens to the water afterwards. Both are answered before the crew mobilizes.
15,000+
The record is not a startup's
Vessels and barges cleaned, plus 5,700+ platforms and 346 rigs and drillships turned around. New to your site, not new to the work.
Zero entry
Automation the incumbents do not run
RoosterEX cleans tanks up to 120 ft in diameter with personnel outside the shell, proven on heavy paraffin. The entry you do not authorize is the exposure you do not carry.
0 trucks
Water that never leaves your site
EC-AOP treats wash water at the tank and returns it to the wash. No competitor on the Gulf Coast offers this inside a cleaning scope.
Questions we get
Drilling Contractors FAQs
What do you clean for drilling contractors?
The rig's liquid mud system, cuttings boxes and CCUs, frac tanks, mud, mix and weir tanks, the mud tanks on marine supply vessels, and dry bulk tanks holding barite or cement.
Can you keep our crews out of the tanks?
We use automated equipment to put fewer people in confined spaces: MudHog for mud tanks on rigs and supply vessels, our Flipper for cuttings boxes and our Dipper for marine portable tanks. When a tank still needs entry, our crews are trained in confined space entry and rescue.
Do you clean at our location or yours?
Both. Rig mud systems are cleaned on the rig. CCUs and cuttings boxes are almost always cleaned at a PMI yard with a wash pad and waste handling on site. Frac tanks can be cleaned at our yards or on your location.
Can you clean the supply vessels too?
Yes. We run four OSV cleaning stations at Port Fourchon, and MudHog also cleans liquid mud tanks on marine supply vessels to shorten their time in port.
Do you handle the waste?
Yes. We handle the waste that comes out of the job and the manifests for what we haul, and every cleaned box or tank can come back with a cleaning record.
Do you rent equipment?
Yes. We rent cuttings boxes, pressure washers, pumps and hoses.
Do you handle NORM?
Yes. NORM surveying and remediation is one of our own service lines, run by our own people. See the NORM service below for how it works.
Tell us what the rig needs cleaned.
Send the rig or shore base, the tanks, boxes or vessels involved and when the rig has to move. We will plan the work around it.
